List of objects for treasure hunt (You may make your own list or use the list found at the end of the devo.)
Cell Phone with timer set to 2 minutes
Adults say: Itโs week 2 of our devotionals, yay! For this week, our topic is about TIME. Now before we dive into our Word, we are going to have a fun game! Are you ready?
The title of our game is โQuick Scavenger Hunt.โ Itโs basically how we play the usual scavenger hunt game. Each of you will be given a list of items to find and collect, but there is a catch! This scavenger hunt will be timed and you will only have 2 minutes to find as many items around the house. Also, the items each have corresponding points. As soon as you hear the 10 seconds countdown, we all should be back here in our main room to add up all the points from all the items that you have collected. The person with the highest number of points will win the game.
Iโll hand out your list and set my timer to 2 minutes. Okay, everybody ready? Go!
Note: Little children joining the game must be accompanied by adults for help and safety, but please let the child find the items on their own.ย
After the timer is done, add up the points corresponding to each item to determine the winner.
Adults say: Wow our winner has a total of ______ points! Let us ask our winner some questions!
Did you feel any pressure in collecting the items on the list? Why?
Did you have any strategy in collecting the items? What did you do?
Collecting all 20 items in just 2 minutes is really challenging. Given such a short amount of time, it is important that we use it wisely, donโt you think? Since the end goal of this game is to gather the highest number of points, you can actually work on a wise strategy to achieve that! For instance, you can start collecting items that can all be found in one room! What are other wise ways that you can think of to reach more points within 2 minutes?
READ THE WORD
Our devotional series โStewardโ reminds us that God has entrusted us with a lot of things and that He expects us to properly handle these and use them to advance His Kingdom. This week we are going to talk about a very important gift that God has entrusted to all of us - TIME.
Ephesians 5:15-17 says:
We all know that our life here on earth is not forever. We are placed by God here on โborrowed time.โ This means that we exactly do not know how long is the amount of time that God has entrusted to each of us. Whether our borrowed time on Earth is short or long, it does not matter. What matters most is how we spend that time wisely as Godโs stewards.ย
Let our Word for today be our guide on how to use our time wisely:
By doing things that please God, and
By grabbing every opportunity to advance His Kingdom
HUDDLE
Parent to Kid/s:
4-6 years old
Can you name some of the things you do that please God?
7-12 years old
What are the things or activities that you do that you know pleases God?
How often do you do these activities?
Kid/s to Parent:
How do you wisely use your time each day?
What are examples of opportunities that we can do to advance the Kingdom of God?
Everyone on earth has the same amount of time everydayย - 24 hours.ย What differs is how that time is used.ย Some people use that time doing purposeful work or activities while others spend it doing meaningless things.ย How do you spend your 24 hours? Are they spent on activities that provide you with temporary happiness?ย Or do you spend them doing things that matter for Godโs kingdom? Letโs be wise and be careful!ย
PRAY
Dear God, thank You for reminding us that our time here on Earth is limited. May we always remember to be good stewards of Your precious time by doing things that please You and by taking every opportunity to advance Your Kingdom.ย In Jesusโ name. amen.

King Solomon was the wisest ruler in the Bible. In the Book of Ecclesiastes, we can find his beautiful reflection about time (Ecclesiastes 3:1-11):
