In Jesus’ story, Lazarus, the poor man went to heaven when he died. He had nothing to his name while he was alive and was so poor he could only eat the scraps from the rich man’s table yet he went to heaven. God is not looking for someone who has a mansion, a phone, or a car. To God, it's not about how many things we own. Remember that everything that we have is given by God so He is not impressed by any of our cool stuff.Β

Aren’t you glad that God can see beyond our social status? God loves us very much, He wants to make sure everyone has equal access to Him whether rich or poor. Heaven is like a very expensive concert – you need to have a ticket to enter. But you don’t need to be rich to buy that ticket. God loves us so faithfully that He gave us His precious son, Jesus Christ – the only ticket we need to get to Heaven.

Dear God, thank You for loving us so faithfully that there is nothing that can separate us from Your love. While the world treats money and wealth as important, in Your eyes we are all equal and You love us the same. Thank You for giving us the most precious treasure we have - Jesus. Google β€œthe most expensive things in the world” and you'll find some expected items on the list like a yacht, buildings, cars, paintings, and jewelry.Β 


But there are some very unusual items on the list:Β 


A domain name

An art piece depicting a dead sharkΒ 

A photograph

A piano

A mobile phone

A floating bed

Parking spot

A feather


Aside from the cost that went into making a certain item, the value of something is usually determined by someone who is willing to pay the price for it.Β A diamond necklace will not sell for thousands of dollars unless someone is willing to pay for it. Those unusual items on the list are not regular items. For example, the feather is not just like any other feather. The story that comes with that specific feather made it very expensive!


The good news for you and me is Someone was willing to pay the price to get us out of our sins - Jesus.Β The price was His own life - along with the suffering and shame that came with it.Β In order to save us, Jesus paid that price, dying on the cross for us.Β That is how much He loves us.Β Β
