Hard Work

Have a TALENT NIGHT! Ask everyone to prepare to share a talent they have. It can be anything - a music number, bake cookies, a poem or story, or teach your family to dribble a basketball, anything. Give everyone ample time or daysโ time to prepare.
Parents, be watchful of how everybody spent their efforts to prepare. Some may prepare elaborately, some may practice for longer periods of time than others, and others may just wing it. You may remind them during the week. Comment on these after everybody has shared their talents.
โ How much time did you need to prepare for your presentation?
โ Did you give our best?
โ Did you hope your audience will enjoy what you did?
โ What if no one came to watch you perform? Would you still give your best?
Today, we will learn what diligence means and what the Bible teaches us about it.

God values work and He wants us to do the same. He wants us to be excellent and give our best in whatever we do. It may be your schoolwork, housework, your job or even the sport you play in. Because God is our master and our Lord, we do everything in a way that honors Him. He is our only audience that we seek to please.
Diligence is giving our best efforts to accomplish the things we need to do. When you work diligently, God sees what you do. It does not matter whether others see or appreciate you because God sees it and it will be rewarded.

โ How can you honor God even with the smallest tasks?
Do you know that God also worked? He worked when He created the world we live in and up to this day, He is still working in each one of our lives. As He blesses us with gifts and talents, He wants us to give our best effort in doing whatever tasks we need to do. God does not work half-heartedly in our lives and neither should we. Let us practice working diligently in whatever things we do.

Dear God,
Help us to remember that you are our Master. Help us to learn to be diligent so that we will serve heartily in whatever we do. Strengthen us in our work so we may overcome all the difficulties we may face. In Jesusโ name,

Noah was one of the hardest working characters in the Bible! In fact the ark built for the survival of his family and animals on board was a result of Noahโs hard work and obedience to God. Even though it took a long time for him to finish his work, God rewarded Noah by protecting them from what happened to the world at that time. If Noah had disobeyed God and became lazy instead, something different wouldโve happened.
