𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗖𝗧

Today we are going to make a crown craft. You will need the following materials:

- printable crown template

- scissors

- crayons

- Adhesive tape or glue

- colored markers or pencils (optional)

- stickers (optional)

Instructions:

1. Cut out the crown template pieces by following the solid black lines.

2. Color and decorate your crown. You may choose to draw different shapes and lines or use colorful stickers.

3. Glue the straight band onto the crown's right and left sides to complete the crown.

A crown is worn by someone royal, like a king or a queen, to represent their power and wealth. Most of their crowns are made of gold, a precious metal because it symbolizes royalty.

When Jesus was born, one of the gifts given to him by the Magi was gold. This is because they knew that Jesus was the King of kings.

Let’s read from Matthew 2:1-2, 9-11 NIV

9 𝘈𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘸𝘢𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘵 𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘭 𝘪𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘴. 10 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘴𝘢𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘫𝘰𝘺𝘦𝘥. 11 𝘖𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘴𝘢𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘣𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘥 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘪𝘮. 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘨𝘪𝘧𝘵𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘨𝘰𝘭𝘥, 𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘺𝘳𝘳𝘩.

Do you think it strange that gold, frankincense, and myrrh were given to a child? Who would give them to a young boy? But these were not random gifts because Jesus is not just any child. And each gift He received points us to something about Him. 

The first gift we will look at is gold. Gold symbolizes royalty. Kings and queens wear crowns made of gold. This brings us to Daniel 7:14, which describes Jesus’ kingdom: 

14 𝘏𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘨𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘪𝘨𝘯 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳; 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘶𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘪𝘮. 𝘏𝘪𝘴 𝘥𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘥𝘰𝘮 𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘺𝘦𝘥.

Authority and sovereign power over all nations and people, everlasting and cannot be destroyed - these all speak of Jesus' kingdom. You see, Jesus’ kingdom is not at all like what we normally know. Today, kingdoms and regimes come and go. When the king passes away, his kingdom ends and is passed on to another. When a ruler’s term ends, he has to step down and hand over authority to another. But Jesus’ kingdom is not physical. Jesus rules in our hearts. His authority is over all things. 

What an assurance that is! While the wise men gave him gifts, God gave us a gift when Jesus was born on earth. He gave us Himself to be our Savior; if we accept Him, he will rule in our hearts. Is Jesus the king of your heart?

Why is Jesus the best gift God has given to us?

In the olden days, the subjects of a king would do anything their king asked of them. The king, in turn, promises protection to his people. Jesus, our King, went to great lengths to redeem us from sin. He gave his life for us. As his subjects, what are we ready to give or do for our King?
