Let’s play a game! All you need for this game is a ballpen. Below are a few questions for you to answer. Some choices are provided so it will be easy! Let’s read this part again: 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲. It’s important for us to study things to make sure they are true and we need to know what our source for the truth is. In school, we have our textbooks. Our teachers use the same books so we know that we are studying the same thing–the same source.

In the game we played, you might have guessed some of the answers based on what felt right. After all, who can imagine a pizza that’s 2 kilometers long when our usual pizzas are shorter than our arms, right? But you know what? We shouldn’t always trust our feelings because our feelings aren’t always right and can lead us to do some pretty bad things. Sometimes we feel angry and end up fighting or hurting our friends, family and classmates. Sometimes we become greedy with our good food like chocolates, cakes or ice creams and we like it so much we don’t share. Yes, eating the chocolate on your own makes you feel good but hiding it from your friends so you don’t have to share is not very nice.

Whenever we are tempted to do things but are not sure if they are right or not, we have a source of truth that we can rely on: the Bible–or God’s word. The Bible has been in place for more than 2 thousands years and has remained unchanged because it contains the truth. Just like the sun that rises in the east and sets in the west–that is the truth and it does not change.

The Bible's teachings are the same even though the world is so different now compared to 2 thousand years ago. We now have the internet and smartphones whereas in the past, people did not even have electricity. This tells us just how reliable the Bible is because what it tells us about God’s love, about Jesus and what is right or wrong does not depend on what is happening in the world.

Remember, whenever you are not sure about what is right or wrong, do what the apostles did and study the scriptures. When you need to take a test, the best way to pass the test is to study. It’s the same thing in life. When you are being tested and you want to make sure you get it right, study God’s word.

Jeremiah 17:9 says,

“𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘵𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘦. 𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘵?”

If we can’t trust our feelings or our heart to do what is right, how, then, should we look for answers? What do you think is the best indicator if something is good or not? The Bible, of course! While it is so easy to get answers from the internet, you must remember that not everything you get from the internet is right. Nor can you rely on your feelings or on other people’s opinions because they change all the time. But the Bible does not change. It has authority and we can rely on it!

Dear God, thank You for giving us Your word as our source of truth. We know that our feelings can change from day to day and we cannot decide to do things based only on how we feel. We need a more reliable source to guide us as we try to live lives that are pleasing to You. Thank You for providing us with Your word. Like a compass, it will always point us in the right direction. In Jesus’s name, amen.

𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗖𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥
1. The tallest man ever recorded was Robert Wadlow, measuring 8 ft and 11 in. An average person will only reach up to his waist!
2. The tallest woman ever recorded was Zeng Jinlian, measuring 8 ft and 1 in. She was only 10 inches shorter than Robert Wadlow, so an average person will reach a little bit higher than her waist.
3. The smallest bird is the bee hummingbird which is only about 2.24 inches long. A bird that’s as long as your finger!
4. The largest bird ever is the Elephant Bird. It is now extinct but when they roamed the earth, they could get as high as 9 ft 10 inches and weighed as much as 850 kg (or the weight of 2 horses!)
5. The longest pizza ever recorded was 1.93 kilometers long. That is the distance you cover if you walk straight for 30 mins!
