The gospel is the power of God for the salvation of those who believe (Romans 1:16). As Christians, knowing the true gospel and its content is crucial for us because it is the foundation of our faith. It speaks of the perfect life, gruesome death, and glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ. Today, we will look at why Christโs resurrection is important not just as we preach the gospel but as we believe.ย

Christ lived a sinless life and died a sacrificial death. By His perfect life, the shedding of His blood, and His death, we can be forgiven of our sins and be rid of its punishment. His resurrection is important and crucial to our faith. Jesusโ resurrection was ๐ช๐ฏ ๐ข๐ค๐ค๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฅ๐ข๐ฏ๐ค๐ฆ ๐ธ๐ช๐ต๐ฉ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ค๐ณ๐ช๐ฑ๐ต๐ถ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ด, meaning the prophecies spoken in the Old Testament that the promised Messiah will be raised and reign forever have been fulfilled in Christ. God is faithful in keeping His promises. The resurrection also shows that we are believing and following the living Christ and there is indeed eternal life because we too will be raised. How does this truth empower you as you believe and proclaim the gospel?

The resurrection of Christ was not staged. It was a historical event which had many witnesses. Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene, to the apostles, to the disciples, and even to Paul. His resurrection was witnessed by more than 500 people and culminated in Him commissioning all believers to continue Godโs mission by proclaiming the gospel to all the world and to make disciples (Matthew 28:17โ20). Therefore, unlike other religions whose faith is primarily based on teachings, rules, and principles, our faith is anchored on an actual historical fact. Saul (also called Paul) wrote this letter to address questions the Corinthians had about their faith. He pointed them back to Christ and what He had done. He had confidence in the gospel because he had a powerful, transforming encounter with the risen Christ as he was on the road to Damascus (Acts 9). He received Jesusโ grace, a miraculous healing, and a calling that would change his life forever. This encounter turned him from a persecutor of the Church into one of the most prolific preachers of the gospel. In the same way, as we understand the grace Christ has shown us, we canโt help but share it with others. How has an encounter with the risen Christ transformed you?
