Jesus Commissions the Disciples

As a family, pick a country that you may want to go visit someday.Β  Look it up on the internet and learn as many things as you can about it. You may check out facts about the country like its capital city, where in the world it is located, what language the people speak, its climate, etc.Β  You may also read a bit about their culture, their history and other facts that interest you.Β  Share what you have learned with your family.Β Β 


Option:Β  you can let each person pick their own country and share what they have learned.


Today, there are 195 countries around the world, with about 40 dependencies and territories, being populated by more than 8 billion people.Β  God loves every single one and in fact, has made a plan more than 2000 years ago concerning all of us.Β

Such a huge task!Β  Imagine being told to go to all nations at a time when there were no airplanes or trains. Β  People only traveled by camels and caravans. The disciples must have been wondering how they were going to accomplish it. But do you know that up to this day, there are people who are still fulfilling this task? That is how the kingdom of God is advancing.Β Β 


God loves everyone so much that He wants all of us, no matter what country you live in, to know Him.Β Β

Who among the people you know do you think you can share the gospel to? Pray for an opportunity to be able to share about Jesus to them.Β

What if you share the gospel and people don’t believe?


While this commandment was given to the disciples at that time, it is a command given to all of us today.Β  We may not all have to travel across the globe but we should do our best to tell others about him and His love for us! How? We can verbally communicate itΒ and we can also demonstrate it by the way we live. We can verbally tell our friends, our neighbors, our teachers, people we work with, anyone! As you keep telling others, more and more people will come to know Jesus! Β  Because people are important to God, then they should also be important to us as well!Β 


As a continuing activity, your family can pray for the country you picked to visit.Β  Pray for the people of that country, that they may come to know Jesus and how much He loves them.Β  You can commit to pray for this country for a month,Β  6 months, or even a year.Β Β

Dear God, thank You for the gospel story and for Jesus’ sacrifice that we may come and spend eternity with You.Β  Thank You for sending people to our lives who have shared the gospel to us. Please bless them always.Β  We pray that we will have the same heart to share the gospel to others and for other nations as well. In Jesus’ name, amen.

So, has the gospel reached β€œall nations”?Β 


The gospel may have reached many nations geographically but within nations, there are people groups who have remained unreached.Β  Unreached means that these groups have very limited access to the gospel and they have very limited or zero knowledge of who God is.Β  Numerically, there are about 7,400 people groups, comprising 42% of the world’s population,Β  still considered unreached.Β  That isΒ  a huge number!Β 


But God has a plan and that plan is YOU ! How do you think you can take part in God’s plan?Β
