After Moses had told the Israelites about the Promised Land, where they would move from a place of having not enough to a place of having just enough, he also added a warning for being in a season of having more than enough. This week, letโs learn from Godโs warning and encouragement to His people when we ourselves experience a season of abundance or having more than enough.

Both lack and abundance reveal whatโs in our hearts. When people gain wealth or experience success, there is often a tendency to become self-sufficient and forget God. While we rarely forget God suddenly, we drift from Him slowly, relying more on our success and efforts when we stop seeking Him. This is why Scripture gives a strong warningโbecause abundance can quietly lead us away from dependence on Him. In every season, but especially in abundance, we are called to remember God and walk in His ways. In what situations do you find it easiest to forget God, and why?

Prosperity can easily produce pride. When we have more than enough, it becomes tempting to believe that everything we have is the result of our own effort and ability. While God calls us to stewardship and hard work, Scripture reminds us that He is the true source of all we have. Recognizing this keeps our hearts humble and dependent on Him. Have you ever felt a sense of pride in what youโve achieved? How can you intentionally give the credit back to God?

God has a plan and purpose for everythingโwhether itโs seasons of lack, of having all we need, or of more than enough. Seasons of abundance are opportunities to align our resources with His purposes. When we remember Godโs covenant faithfulness, we begin to see provision not as ownership, but as stewardship. Godโs provision for us should not end with us, but should overflow to others and to the nations. What did God say to Abraham when God promised to bless him (Genesis 12:2โ3)? How do you think God wants you to use what He has entrusted to you in this season?

โข In seasons of abundance, what tends to distract you from God (e.g., comfort, busyness, success)? This week, consider how you can intentionally return your focus to Him and acknowledge Him as the source.
โข Where might pride be quietly growing in your life? Bring it before God in prayer. Ask for humility to remember that He is one who gives you power to get wealth.
โข What resources (time, talent, and treasure) has God entrusted to you? How is God calling you to steward these resources for His mission? Ask God for a concrete step to take with your resources this week.

โข Thank God for His provision and faithfulness in every season.ย
โข Ask Him to guard your heart from pride and self-sufficiency. Pray for a heart that remembers Him and a life that honors Him with what you have.
โข Pray for God to show you opportunities to be a blessing as He has blessed you. Pray that you would not only share His blessings, but who He is with others.
