Jesus displayed the greatest kind of leadership not through force or power, but through love. This statement is counter-cultural, especially in our generation today. Many base their leadership on their achievements, connections, and influence. Love and leadership are not often seen in the same sentence, yet leading and leading with the next generation presents an opportunity to lead well by loving greatly, just as Jesus did.

Much of true leadership work is not prominent, not seen on social media, not flashy or attractive, and is oftentimes rejected by many. Jesus chose to lead this way. He was humble, and He did the humble work. As young people, we need to embrace service done in humility not as a stepping stone to greater tasks or positions, but simply as opportunities to love and lead people. As the older generation, no task or opportunity to serve should be below us. Whether young or old, if God calls us to serve a certain wayโposition or no position, spotlight or no spotlightโwe will do it. How are you cultivating faithfulness in the unseen places, where obedience is not often met with recognition?

Great leaders lead by example. Many leaders today speak well and have good content to share, but thereโs a real gap between what they say and how they live. As we lead one another and the next generation, we need to remember the call to follow Jesusโ example. He is the standard for living, loving, and leading. We can only live the life He has called us to live by His Spirit. How are we making sure our lives match the message weโre teaching?
Jesus, the greatest leader, promises blessing to those who follow His example (John 13:17). This blessing is not merely success, recognition, or influence. It is the joy and fullness of life that come from walking in obedience to Christ and participating in His work. When we practice His kind of leadership, it will be a blessing to all and the generations to come. Imagine what society, our communities, our church, and the campuses could look like if we follow Jesusโ example of leadership!

โข Are there people you open up to and allow to speak into your life to help you live for God? How may you continue to stay connected and build healthier relationships with them this week?
โข Are you helping others, especially the next generation, live a godly life? Make a list of people you may reach out to this week to share about the love of Jesus.
โข This week, identify at least three ways you may be more intentional in participating in initiatives of your local church to serve the next generation and your community.ย

โข Thank God for the gift of leadership and for sending people who challenge us to live for Him.
โข Ask God to help us work with and encourage the next generation to pursue Him and His purpose for their lives. Ask Him to help us see them as He does: future leaders and co-laborers in His kingdom.
โข Pray that God would strengthen our relationships in our church community as we help one another, especially different generations, pursue God and His calling. Pray for opportunities to be equipped and to equip others as well.
