As a Church, God has called us not just to believe individually, but to meet regularly as a community (Hebrews 10:24โ25). This shared life and gathering was a communal and intentional way of responding to God together. Liturgy simply means the ordered pattern of corporate worship. This was one of the ways God shaped the earliest believers (and even us) deeply and prepared them for His mission. Today, we will look at how we are shaped and formed in worship as we gather to draw near to and seek God.ย

The early believers devoted themselves to gathering together. They didnโt just show up for themselves; they were committed to encourage and strengthen one another. In the same way, when we worship and gather together regularly, God shapes us into a people who trust Him and walk in His ways with love and confidence. The early church didnโt just meet; their worship overflowed into generosity as they served one another. This is apparent in how they cared for their community and met each otherโs needs. When we gather faithfully, worship Him, and love one another, our lives become a quiet but powerful witness that God uses to draw others to Himself (Acts 2:47). Jesus calls us to be His witnesses (Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:19โ20), and uses our gatherings to strengthen and prepare us to be sent. One of the earliest words used for worship gatherings (๐ฎ๐ช๐ด๐ด๐ข, the root of the word โmissionโ) literally means to send. Worship doesnโt end in our gatherings, but continues as we live it out in our everyday lives. Where has God sent you in the past? What does Acts 1:8 say about being Christโs witnesses?
When we gather to worship, something deeper happens to us: we are formed into a community of faith, growing in love and good works, and being sent out as witnesses of Christ. No matter where we are in our spiritual journey, God is actively shaping, growing, and sending us.

โข Pause and give some thought to how you approach worship. Ask God to help you be more intentionalโnot just in attending a worship service, but in truly abiding in Him and remaining connected to others regularly.ย
